This determines how questions will appear in your final questionnaire.
To reorder questions or topics:
- In the question overview, hover your mouse over the item you want to move.
- Click and hold the drag handle (the icon with two columns of dots) on the left side of the question or topic.
- Drag the item to your desired position.
- Release the mouse to drop it in place.
- Click Save at the bottom of the page to confirm your changes.
Editing topics
You can edit topics in the All questions tab. This allows you to:- Update the topic name in all available languages.
- Add a description to give participants more context (the description will appear in the questionnaire).
To edit a topic:
- In the question overview, click the three vertical dots next to the topic name.
- Select Edit topic.
- Update the topic names in the available languages.
- (Optional) Click Add description to include more context.
- Click Save at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
Editing or removing questions
Effectory standard questions cannot be edited or deleted. This ensures:
- Access to validated, high-quality questions
- Benchmarking in your reporting
To exclude a question from a survey, simply leave it unselected when creating your questionnaire during the survey setup. Want to know more about how to create a questionnaire for your survey? Read more.
Adding a comment to a question to provide context
It is possible to add a comment to a question. This can be especially useful when you are using one of the Effectory default questions from the library but would like to give some extra context for the participants (see example in screenshot below):
.png?width=670&height=345&name=image%20(1).png)
The comment will be displayed above the question when a participant is filling out the questionnaire as you can see in the preview above.
Select an alternative version of a default question*
This option will allow you to select an alternative version of a standard question. It has different wording but the same meaning. This will keep the benchmark compatibility.
If adding a comment to a question or an alternative version of the standard question does not fit your needs, you can also create custom questions (if available in your subcription).
Please note:
- Custom questions do not include benchmark data.
- Some topics are restricted—check the guidelines here.
- You are responsible for ensuring GDPR compliance.
Adjusting a variable
You can tailor variables to better reflect your organization’s language.
Variables are placeholders like [company name] that can be replaced with your actual content. Depending on your subscription, you may also update department or manager variables.
To edit a variable:
- Go to Project Question Library > Variables tab
- Click the pen icon next to the variable
- Update the value (e.g. change
[company name]to your actual company name) - Click Confirm changes
A preview will show how the updated variable appears in real questions.
