Introduction: The Question Library
The new Question Library feature is currently accessible in view-only mode and is not yet available to all users. When reviewing these articles, please keep in mind that certain functionalities may still be unavailable.
What is the Question Library? The Question Library in My Effectory is a centralized location for managing all survey questions. It provides central and project coordinators with the possibility to
- View all questions in the project library, including translations.
- Add custom questions* with guidance on crafting effective survey items.
- Manage translations for custom questions.
- Tailor variable names for standard validated questions.
Currently, the library is view-only, meaning you can browse questions but not yet make adjustments. It is also not yet available to all users.
*Please note that the availability of certain functions might depend on your chosen plan
Question Library and Survey Questionnaire
As a central or project coordinator you keep full control of the questions in your project. You can find them in the Question Library. Keeping your library up to date ensures that when you set up a survey, you can easily select the right questions for the specific survey questionnaire.
Why do we differentiate between the two?
- The question library manages the questions of your project
- In CYOS (Create your own Survey), users create a specific survey questionnaire with questions derived from the question library
The Question Library thus allows you to manage your questions efficiently at the project level, offering the flexibility to adjust to your organizational needs at any time. You can add new questions and solutions to explore specific topics, change organization variables or even add your own custom questions.

Example: Within your organization, you might plan to run the following surveys throughout the year:
- A central organization-wide survey
- A DEI pulse survey
- An ESG Scan
- Two to three smaller follow-up surveys based on feedback from the organization-wide survey.
Each of these surveys may require different sets of questions and solutions. The Question Library allows you to manage the questions for all those surveys on the project level in My Effectory. If a local coordinator goes on to create a survey in My Effectory, they can select from all the questions that you as a central or project coordinator have made available in the Question Library. This way you keep full control of for example custom questions that can then be used in all types of surveys.

What's included in my Question Library?
- Scope: The scope of your library is pre-configured based on the selected subscription, allowing it to include between 10 and 165 questions.
- Customization options depend on your subscription.
- Fixed surveys: Some solutions, such as Onboarding and Exit surveys, have a fixed set of questions but remain fully visible within My Effectory.
