Design templates for your surveys and mailings
You can customize the look and feel of your surveys and mailings in My Effectory using design templates. This article explains how to create a new template, how to apply one during survey setup, and who can do what.
Why customize your surveys and mailings?

Who can create and use design templates?

Creating templates: Central and Project Coordinators can create as many templates as needed.

Using templates: Anyone who can create a survey (Central, Project, or Local Coordinators) can select from the available templates during the survey setup.
How to create a design template
To create a new template:

Go to the project where you want to add the template.

Open the project settings and scroll to the Design template section.

Click + Create template.

Choose Create new template.
-
Use the preview on the right to see your changes in real time.

Click Save. The template is now ready to use.
You can also edit or delete templates and set a different default template in project settings.
What if no templates have been created? No problem. Every project includes a default design you can use.
Using a design from another project
If you’ve already created a great design in another project, there’s no need to start from scratch.
Central and Project Coordinators can copy design templates from one project to another. It saves time and avoids having to re-upload logos or background images.
Here’s how:

Go to the project where you want to add the template.

Open project settings and scroll to the Design template section.

Click + Create template.

Choose Use existing template.

A list of templates from other projects in your account will appear. You’ll only see designs from projects you have access to.

Select a template to preview it. You can leave it as is or make edits.

Click Add template to save it to your current project.
Good to know:
-
You can only copy templates from projects within the same account.

Central Coordinators see all templates in the account. Project Coordinators only see templates from projects they have access to.
What can you customize?
Each design template includes four customizable elements:

Template name: Give it a clear, recognisable name so it’s easy to reuse.

Company logo: Upload a .jpeg or .png file (minimum size 10×50). The logo appears on both surveys and mailings.

Background image: Upload a .jpeg or .png (minimum size 1920×1080, ratio 14:25). This appears on the survey landing page and in your mailings.

Coloring: Choose a primary button color and a background color.
Applying a design when creating a survey
When creating a survey, you’ll go through four steps: Participants, Survey period, Questions, and Design.
In the Design step, you can:

select a template created in the current project
-
use different designs for the questionnaire and mailings (if more than one is available)
-
add a custom introduction to your mailings
Design templates apply to the questionnaire, survey invitations, and survey reminders.
Is this feature available to everyone?
