How to stop a running survey
You can manually stop a survey that is currently running in My Effectory. This gives you more control over your survey process and helps you respond quickly to unexpected situations.
Why Stop a Survey?
You might want to stop a survey early if:
- The response rate has reached 100%
- A mistake was made and the survey should not continue
What Happens When You Stop a Survey?
- The survey’s end date is set to the exact moment you stop it.
- No data is lost — all collected responses and results remain available for reporting.
- Respondents are not notified when a survey is stopped (this may change in a future update).
Use This Feature Wisely!
Stopping a survey is a final action. Once a survey is stopped:
- It cannot be restarted or reopened.
- If you stopped it by mistake, you’ll need to create a new survey.
How to Stop a Survey
- Go to My Effectory.
- Open the Project in which the survey is launched.
- Click on the survey that is currently running.
- Click on the three dots in the right corner and click Close Survey .
- Confirm your choice.
The survey will immediately be closed and marked as completed.
If you stopped the survey because you wanted it to end early due to 100% response, the results will be available as planned based on the settings you have chosen.
Additional Information
- If phased release is enabled, you’ll see a message about the scheduled results release date. You can adjust this in the Results Release Settings.
- You can use the archiving feature to hide stopped surveys from view, especially useful if a survey was stopped due to an error.
