What is the eNPS?

The Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) is a simple yet powerful way to measure how employees feel about your organization. It serves as the workplace equivalent of the well-known Net Promoter Score (NPS) used to gauge customer loyalty.

The eNPS asks employees a single question:
"How likely are you to recommend your organization as an employer to others, on a scale from 0 to 10?"

How is the eNPS calculated?

Based on their responses, employees are categorized into three groups:

  • Detractors (0–6): Employees who are unlikely to recommend your organization.
  • Passives (7–8): Neutral employees who are not particularly enthusiastic but not negative either.
  • Promoters (9–10): Employees who are highly likely to recommend your organization to others.

To calculate the eNPS, the percentage of Detractors is subtracted from the percentage of Promoters. Passives are excluded from the calculation as they are considered neutral. The final score ranges from -100 to +100, with higher scores indicating a stronger level of employee satisfaction and advocacy.

Why does Effectory use the US eNPS methodology?

At Effectory, we use the US eNPS methodology because it is widely recognized as the original standard and a proven approach. Globally, it remains the most commonly used benchmark, making it an ideal choice for ensuring consistency and reliability in feedback. Comparisons with the benchmark are, therefore, highly valuable and often more insightful than focusing solely on absolute scores.

For organizations with international operations using the globally recognized US eNPS standard ensures consistency in interpreting results across regions. This approach eliminates discrepancies, providing reliable, standardized comparisons that allow organizations to confidently evaluate their eNPS performance on both local and global levels.

Why does eNPS matter?

The eNPS is a simple yet effective way to gain clear insights into employee satisfaction and loyalty. By tracking your score over time and benchmarking it against others, you can identify areas for improvement, celebrate successes, and take meaningful action to enhance employee engagement.
