How do I interpret the team and company response?

The more employees that participate in your survey, the more representative of your situation the results will be. Each additional opinion directly translates into insights you can use to build sustainable solutions for your organization.

You can follow the real-time survey response via My Effectory or the Effectory Response app (see article).

The response numbers that are shown are the absolute amount of responses and the response rate percentages per group. The average response rate tends to vary in different sectors, but is generally around 55%-65% percent. Use the search bar and/or the filter to search for a specific group, or to selectively show groups with response rates below a certain percentage.

Click on the button “Share response rate” to download a widget that can be shared on the intranet.

Has the survey been running for some time, but the response is still low? Here are three important reasons for why employees don’t participate in a survey, and what you can do about them:

1. The feeling that the survey is not confidential and fear of consequences after providing (critical) feedback.
Emphasize from the beginning that the survey is carried out by an independent research agency - Effectory. Give them the opportunity to ask questions and take the time to answer them with due care. Make sure all colleagues receive the Effectory confidentiality guarantee document. It explains clearly how Effectory respects confidentiality of responses.

2. The assumption that nothing is done with the results.
Communication is key! Be clear about the specific goals of carrying out the survey, and emphasize that organizational improvements can best be done with the highest possible amount of input. Be transparent about the planning and keep your employees informed about the steps of action that will be taken once the results are in, both on an organizational and team/department level.

3. No time to fill in the survey.
Filling in the survey gives every employee the chance to bring forward improvements in his or her direct work environment. For this reason it is of value to allocate the time for the employees to do so, and the freedom to fill in the questionnaire during working hours. It is clearly stated how many questions the (digital) survey consist of, and how long it usually takes to complete. This way the employee will know what he/she can expect.
